Redefining Love

I watched a video that left my heart restless. It’s a video of Narayanan Krishnan from India who the sight of the hungry ,homeless and sick broke his heart to pieces .He took those pieces and built a life for himself by helping people in need as his friends. Today, Krishnan cooks for them, feeds them, cares for them and offers simple dignity of a simple bath. He hands to them love (he calls love, mental nutrition) and accepts them as they are.

I have come to discover that the essence of the gospel is Acceptance and love.
Reflecting on Mathew 7: 9 -12 “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? ………then verse 12 which is easier to quote than to live says “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you. “

This got me thinking. One of the greatest gift/blessing/curses or burdens we can give to our children is Perspective. When we pass on prejudice to our children, we are handling to them snakes…we are handling to them stones that they might grow up and throw it to someone who is different from them because of the ignorance we perpetuated through perspectives and prejudice that wasn’t checked in our heart .

This has to stop…We cannot say we love God who we don’t see and hate our brother or sister who we see every day. This is a dangerous snake, useless stone and a toxic religion we have to be proactive about doing for others what we would love them to do to us. Each and every day we see people who are in need of our help .Some of us feel it deeply, but we put ourselves together and go on with our life.but people like Krishna are compelled and share their love .

What’s in my heart? Cause whatever change we need to see starts in our heart. Love or Hate? What is the ultimate purpose of life? What I am I  handing out? Love or hate?

“…the essence of the Gospel is acceptance and love. …Some of us feel it deeply, but we put ourselves together and go on with our life…” -Those words resonate with me deeply. Thank you for sharing this post.
