Well, what CAN I Say? It was quite the time, a true roller-coaster of sort’s hard times and some interesting fun times we had preparing for the big move to Hill city. This clearly showed me a true picture of the children of Israel, see…. God delivered them from slavery and led them on the journey to their Promised Land, a place described as flowing with milk and honey. The trip should have taken just 11 days; instead it took them 40 years! See the people were continuously grumbling and complaining about everything. They even complained about the bread that God miraculously provided for them. Anytime something difficult crossed their path, they were ready to give up and go back to Egypt—back to slavery.

When I look back at the journey it took for us as a congregation to get to our promise land, all I can say is that he is Ebenezer. We joined discovery at a point where Mavuno church was transitioning, transition is not easy. As outreach team we prayed and later sat in a meeting to find out how best we could reach out to the people around our promise land. We had to anticipate stop over , challenges , pain ,discouragement , battles and the most important is that we had to recognize we are in a new county and we had to stop acting like we used to- remember us saying we need to get over “Bellevue mentality “ Bellevue is the place we were coming from. . This took effort on our part, but by God’s grace and with His help, we changed.

Some of the outreach activities we did , were evangelism by knocking door to door at different estates around hill city ,some would gladly welcome us and some shun us down .we did this in over 10 estates for four consecutive weekends. We also did mega kids clubs in this estates the part I got really engaged as is the area of my passion and over time I have seen this kids come to church .we had access to about 8 high schools that had opened their doors for us to preach in their schools’ . Must say February was a big month for us; I call it the outreach month. March 2nd was getting close. I remember so well that on 1st march the outreach team got a show truck where we rode about 6km around hill city inviting people to church, I had never done this but I loved it. March 2nd goes down in history as the first day we had our first service at hill city (the promise land), I must say all glory to God .God showed up and there was a show down .people came to church ,gave their life’s to God and that marked a new beginning for us. If God was never there for us, we would never have made it to the promise land.

I am so thankful to God that we have lived to see the promise land (hill city). I look back on things /journey it has been to get there, the struggle, discouragement, failures, battles, pain and realize that God used them to strengthen us. It was a season of storms that we went through and we got into a new season of Gods new mercies. Friends In those times you find yourself in the wilderness, doubting the call of God on your life, remind yourself that God is not a man that He should lie. Sometimes God will allow you to go through desolate times where you get tempted, tested, and tried, so that you can depend on him fully.
